Lecture @ exhibition 'All too human : man between beast and god
At 'Het zoekend hert' (House of philosophy in Antwerp (Berchem)) I gave a lecture on politics as a blanket to keep the human hedgehog (Schopenhauer) warm. Politics as a revelation of the human lack. Focus on the art work of Ronald Ophuis, Maarten Schoubroeck and Berlinde De Bruyckere.

Foucault : Privacy en (on)veiligheid
Visibility is a trap', stated Michel Foucault in 1975. Are we really walking into a trap or are we the product or result of such a trap? This course passes the trivial discussions about privacy and security. We are conducted to a domain of religion and death awareness. The famous text of Foucault on the Panopticon of Bentham will form the main topic..

Nacht van de Vrijdenker : special guest
Talk about the ambiguous relationship that mankind shows towards death and death awareness. Exploration of the various forms man's 'flight from death' can take on. Special focus on horror movies. Reflection on how crucial death awareness is for society and mankind and questioning of the role contemporary art and popular culture can play in this respect.
